Life is pretty good right now. My life is full of my gorgeous wife, pancakes, all the wine that I want, and all the books I can read. I try to keep the things in my life fresh and fabulous, so here’s what’s currently good in my world. Currently I am on a “homemade” kick. I’m your younger, trendier, and probably nicer and non-racist version of Betty Crocker. Like Mariah, I am obsessed with my damned crock pot. You can cook LIT-ER-A-LLY anything in them (can you hear my hand claps in between each syllable? My mom always told me I was sassy). You can cook chicken, you can cook yourself some lemon monkey bread, and my recent discovery, you can cook friggin soup in them. This last weekend I made the most amazing crock pot Basil Tomato Soup. I threw a few pieces of toasted baguette in the mix, and it was basically the newest and hottest cafe inside my apartment. It was amazing, and you should make it even if you don’t like tomato soup.

So, let’s talk about contouring. This can mean a bunch of different things, there is a really wide variety of contouring styles, tools, products that you can use to reach the desired effect. Lemme just stop you right there, and remind you that I am not Kim K, and so my version of contouring is some bronzer and some highlighter. That’s it. Done Son.
Now that you've prioritized your wedding, you may have found that having a large guest list is something you want. When I started planning my own wedding, I knew some things were going to have to give. My family is huge, I have seven amazing grandparents, along with all their kids, and their kids. My husband, has a gazillion close friends. Food and alcohol are very near and dear to our hearts, so we had to be practical.
I know many of our friends who are getting married are in the same boat! Here are some money saving tips that work really well for a big guest list: Guys my first week of being 25 went great (despite me losing my debit card downtown….)! This week has been super busy with C+L meetings. Everyone we have met with in our community have been so lovely and supportive! I become more inspired everyday. I am so excited to share with everyone what we have been working so hard on over the next few months!
So what else is good in my life? Well let me tell ya friend…. Current Read || The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Current binge obsession || New Girl on Netflix (I’m late in the game I know I know) Current podcast || Sword & Scale (holy shit) Current songs || Bounce Back by Big Sean + Paris by Chainsmokers + I Don’t Wanna Live Forever by Tay Swift featuring Zayn Malik
Dinner tonight || Grilled cheese with caramelized onions and tomato soup.
So if my apartment was on fire I would grab my crock pot. Okay that’s a huge exaggeration because I could easily buy the same crock pot from Target for thirty bucks. Not even, because I save 5% by using my Target red card. No, Target is not paying for me advertising. Although they really should. My point being, I LOVE my crock pot. I have a difficult time adulting, but coming home to the dreamy smell of my crockpot really puts me at ease. Anyways, back to my imaginary apartment fire. I would grab Scottie, my coffee table, and Gravy. I may go back in for my kitchen aid and my smoking witch painting….. Yes I am aware that I have an unhealthy attachment to inanimate objects. Lastly, my new guilty pleasure is walking to the Papa Murphy's across the street from my apartment, buying their cookie dough, and eating it raw. Thanks for reading! All my love, Mariah Every good makeup junkie has their thing. Their thing that they can’t get enough of, the “all hail” product that will forever trump (no pun intended, folks) every other product in line of importance in their holy routine. For me, it's eye shadow. I NEVER buy the cheap stuff. Been there, done that, nope nope nope. Call me a snob, call me an elitist, call me what you will. I proudly stand by my obsession with eye shadow and my demand for the best. I’ve tried it all, and I promise that there will be so many eye shadow blog posts you will want to take my palette of the moment and throw it at me!
Today though, I’ve gotta rave about the palette I used for my wedding. Yep, you heard me. I did my own makeup on my wedding, and I’m so glad I did. There are a lot of great reasons to do your own, which maybe I’ll do a separate post on eventually! Let me set something straight, I’m an au-naturale gal when it comes to the shades I use most often for my eye shadow. I don’t do the blues, purples, or greens (of the bright shades). I stick with the muted, blendable shades. Boring? Probably. Nobody accused the girl on the couch on a Friday night with a tub of Ben & Jerry’s and the latest episode of ‘Mistresses’ of being too exciting. |
