Letters from the Planners

Let's Talk About Lips, Baby || Fresh Friday || Champagne + Linen

As you all know, I’m pretty obsessed with makeup.  I know a lot about it, I’ve tried a lot of different stuff, and I feel fairly confident with most of the products that I use.  But I have to admit, I do have some things I’m not all that confident with.  Most of them revolve around the lips, and products that you can use for them.  But I have been improving on my lip skills, so pucker up, baby! Let’s talk about lips.

In my What’s Good this last Monday, I mentioned a few products that I’m currently ob-sess-ed with.
NYX Ombre Lipstick Sets
Picture || Linda Hallberg
First, I have to freakin rave about NYX Ombre Lip duo. I bought this in the Ginger & Nutmeg flavor, and it looks sooooooo good.  It sounds like it would be hella complicated to figure this bad boy out, but for realz it’s too easy.  Just line your lips with the darker, liner side, and fill in with the lighter lip stick side.  Smooch and rub your lips together, and Voila!  Perfect ombre 90’s fabulous lips.  So easy, and it looks so good.  The lipstick is nice and creamy, but staying power is excellent and I only reapplied throughout the night because I ate a fish taco (it was delicious, by the way) and had a few drinks.  Even before reapplying however, this stuff was still pretty stuck in place, and I 100% could have gotten away with not reapplying and I still woulda looked fly AF.

Elf Lip ExfoliatorElf Lip Exfoliator || $3
Next up is the Elf Lip Exfoliator.  As I said, literally $3 at Target, literally amazing.  It’s always been a mission for me to find the PERFECT chapstick, and the PERFECT exfoliator.  All my chapped lipped girls gimme a holler, cause it’s a serious bitch dealing with forever flaky and chapped puckers.  I’m still on a mission for the perfect moisturizing chapstick, but this bad ass exfoliator has literally delivered me from evil.  It looks like a standard lipstick, which is revolutionary for me cause I’ve only ever used scrubs that come in a pot, which is messy and annoying.  This you rub on just like lipstick, and rub your lips together and then wipe it off with a damp paper towel or cotton swab. And then your lips are soft as an angel’s sigh.  No joke.  I just slap on some lip balm after, continue on with my makeup routine, and then add my lipstick or gloss last, and my lips stay deliciously smooth ALL. DAY. LONG. Five stars all the way, yo.  Go buy it now, use your extra pennies or nickels stuck in the couch and GO BUY IT.  Worth it alllll the way.

Now as far as lip products go in general, I should probably invest in the more expensive brands.  Lipstick is important to have good, quality product on your lips all day long.  But, I like the cheap stuff. Guilty as charged.  But I also don’t feel it is necessary to sacrifice quality for price, and as you will all discover, I love NYX products.  If I’m not buying prestige brands (Smashbox, Urban Decay, Benefit), I go straight to NYX almost always.  High quality products for a super reasonable price, and I’m rarely disappointed with their stuff. And they are all Cruelty Free too.

NYX Brand Matte Lipstick in Whipped CaviarNYX Matte Lipstick || Whipped Caviar || $6
So, this leads me to their lip products.  I have large variety of of their Matte Lipsticks, and even used Whipped Caviar (can find this color at Ulta) for my wedding, so you know this stuff is Ariel Approved to use for your wedding makeup. I also use a ton of their lip glosses, which I am always satisfied with. One of my go-to’s is their Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Beige Pearl for an everyday look.  I promise it will make you look expensive, sassy, mysterious and sexy.  All at the same time. It’s glorious.

Chapstick is a constant revolving door of new products for me.  Like is aid, I have a really hard time finding something that works 100%, so if anyone has any suggestions for ME, that would the bomb dot com.

Drop me a line with your favorite chapstick, suggestions for lipsticks to try, or any comments!

Ciao, Bella!
Ariel
