Finishing up the best year of my life was pretty simple. I kind of just sat back, enjoyed the holidays, and rang in the new year with a glass of wine and watched Mariah Carey’s shit show of a NYE performance.
I did lot of amazing things this year. I graduated with my masters in Social Work, I started my ah-mazing job as a hospice social worker, I got married in October to the love of my life, and then I got to take the most honey-mooney honey moon ever at an all inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Yeeeaaahhhhh buddy.
And then I had to come home.
After drinking bottomless mimosas and grazing on the buffets for a whole week with no inhibition whatsoever.
Needless to say, my body hated me.
I had been wanting to try a Teatox for awhile, and I figured that this was the best time to do it. After an all inclusive honey-moon, I thought there was no better time to cleanse my body and return it to the temple that it always has been (LOL). But I did hope it would at least make me feel a little better.
So here I was. A possibly hokey Teatox system I ordered off of Amazon, and $30 poorer. I was ready.
Baetea 14 Day Teatox was $23.99 on Amazon ($30 cheaper than buying it off the site), and got really great reviews-4.5 stars with over 1,000 reviews. I did plenty of research before picking this one, cause this is a really important decision, guys. All the reality TV stars were telling me to buy a different one on Insta, but I wasn’t convinced that they were the most reliable reviews (the one they all say is amazing gets terrible reviews). Reviews on Amazon for Baetea claimed that users lost up to 5lb’s, felt really good after the teatox was over, aaaaaaand had explosive diarrhea while using this stuff, “cleansing” their colon. Perfect.
Baetea came in a smaller than I expected package, and smells like lemongrass. It also tastes like it. So if you think lemongrass tastes like butthole, you should try their Acai version, which will likely not taste like lemongrass. The directions instructed me to drink it once daily, either first thing in the morning, or right before a workout. Doing it in the morning was an easier option for me, so that was my plan of attack.
Day 1 || I drank the tea first thing as I was getting ready for the morning. The taste isn’t totally unpleasant, but it’s not great either. It’s like a giant blast of lemongrass in your mouth, so beware. I didn’t mind it because I drink a truck-load of tea on a regular basis anyways, but I can see how people wouldn’t like the taste much. I noticed throughout the day that it absolutely repressed my appetite during the first half of the day, I felt like I had more energy, and I also felt like I had a higher endurance at the gym. I did not, however, shit my pants as other users had claimed happened to them, so all in all it was a good intro to the Teatox.
Day 2 || About the same as the first day, not a whole lot of a difference. I didn’t feel as if I had as much energy as the first day though.
Day 3 || This is the day that I realized that Christmas is coming and I eat whatever I want during the Holidays, and thus maybe this teatox wasn’t such a genius idea at this point. But I kept on going with the system, cause I’m not a quitter. And I also spent too much money to bitch out at this point.
Day 4 || Well. I really screwed it up now. I gave in and had Wendy’s for dinner. Damnit. Ana-Leigh was working, and it was a Friday, and Christmas is this weekend so I gave myself a break and let myself indulge. Oops (Also, have you had their chicken nuggets before? Come on).
Summary || I did lose a teensy bit of weight, only about two pounds. So who knows if that was due to the Teatox, or if it was just normal fluctuation of weight. But if I lost even a little bit, it means there is hope for anyone wanting to try this, and I did feel like it repressed my appetite significantly, at least in the first half of the day. I did feel like I had more energy, and I just felt really good throughout the Teatox. Placebo effect? Maybe. I’m not mad about it. As I mentioned earlier, a lot of reviewer’s claimed that this teatox kept them “gently, but insistently regular”, a.k.a. shitting their pants on the reg. I, fortunately, did not experience this at any point through the two weeks.
Would I do this again? Absolutely. Next time though I’m going to pick a time of year where there are no holidays tempting me with delicious food and booze. If you are thinking about any type of detox, I would absolutely suggest a teatox. It was super gentle and I felt like did the best job it could given the situation it had to work with. Next time I would also drink a lot more water (as the directions suggested), and get to the gym more often. I did feel like it was worth the price I paid and that it was a good value.
So if you have ever considered a detox, go with a teatox and see what happens!
